Nakia Petersen is the driving force behind The Appraisal Firm, a family-owned and operated business proudly serving the community since 1999.

With a career in mortgage finance and real estate that dates back to the 1990s, Nakia brings a unique and highly valuable perspective to the valuation process. He has spent years working on both sides of the transaction—mortgage lending and real estate appraising. Having partnered with and worked for some of the largest, most prominent home lending institutions in the nation, he possesses a keen, inside understanding of every aspect of the lending industry. This dual expertise allows him to anticipate the needs of lenders, buyers, and sellers alike, ensuring a smooth and accurate appraisal process. Nakia’s specialty practice focuses on new construction and estate planning, where his attention to detail and deep market knowledge give clients the clarity and confidence they need during pivotal financial and life decisions.

Currently a Licensed Residential Appraiser, Nakia is in the final stages of upgrading his credentials to become a Certified Residential Appraiser, reflecting his ongoing commitment to professional growth and top-tier service.

Nathan Briscoe

As a seasoned Certified General real estate appraiser with a wide range of professional experience, Nathan brings strong analytical, technical, narrative, and client relations skills to the practice of valuation. His career began in 2003 with a national firm led by industry leading MAIs. That foundation was augmented by extensive Appraisal Institute coursework and assignments appraising all major commercial and residential property types. He gained appraisal review experience on the staff of one of the Midwest’s largest banks. Over the past 15 years, his specialty practice has included retail/commercial, gas station/c-stores, lodging, seniors housing, and residential valuation in Central Ohio.

Thomas Delach

Thomas Delach hails from Kalamazoo, Michigan, and graduated from Western Michigan University with a Bachelor of Arts in 1973. Just a year later, in 1974, he launched his own Art and Antique business as a sole proprietor.
Over the past five decades, Thomas has deepened his expertise by reading extensively, visiting museums, attending antique shows, and traveling throughout the Americas and Europe.
With a keen, eclectic eye, he has developed the ability to recognize a diverse range of valuable items. His discernment is rooted in a unique gift for selectivity. Thomas evaluates its worth by considering factors such as its origin, age, and a multitude of other elements that contribute to its value. The true worth of an item may reside in its patina, surface qualities, or even in the tactile experience of its fabric.
